Gerry was an inspiration to everyone who heard him and so much more to those of us who played with him.

Listen to Delaney and Bonnie's "Love Me a Little Bit Longer" and you will hear the best sh*t EVER by Gerry. Changed my life as a musician and had an impact on every overdub I ever did after I heard it.

What a pity the backing track is way louder than Gerry's picking.

For heaven's sakes, this man is keeping perfect time - spot on throughout. I finger pick a Stratocaster a little but never near approaching to this kind of mastery. As a matter of fact, I think that Gerry did some of that great lead playing on Gene Clark's No Other album. If I am not wrong, it was he who played the great solo on Life's Greatest Fool, one of the best constructed and fluent solos you could ever hear. He may have also done the main solos and fills on The True One, another great song from Gene's great album. Complete mastery of the fingerpicked electric guitar is what you hear (and I think he also plays slide and steel)!

I don't think he's actually playing live here. He obviously CAN play it, but I think this is not really live playing. Great piece nonetheless. I think he gave lessons to a young Jerry Donahue too.

Gerry, I was in Hollywood playing with "The Sons of Adam" in '66; but I didn't find out about a lot of folks for several years when I started getting some bit session parts through Jackie Deshannon. So when the Monkees came out, Louie Shelton told me of you. It is wonderful how we are still above ground. I am learning more every year and you are still spanking the shit outta the Guitar. An inspiration to many of us for many years. Should the Ventures do Seattle, please let me know. I
